The IDEATEAM project, part of the initiatives developed by the Associazione Italia Corno d’Africa (Italy-Horn of Africa Association), aims to support Shannon Abeda. Born in Canada to parents of the Eritrean Diaspora, Abeda will represent Eritrea—his country of origin—at the upcoming Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, where he will compete in both the Slalom and Giant Slalom events.

It is a dream shared by an entire nation: Eritrea. Shannon will be the country's sole representative and will have the honor of serving as its flag bearer. Italy and Eritrea share a long-standing relationship rooted in a common history dating back to Roman and Christian times. This bond gained further momentum during the pre- and post-war periods of the 20th century and continues today, fostering a deep socio-cultural affinity that has linked the two nations for generations.
